A la suite d’études de photographie à l’ENSAV de La Cambre, Laura Henno s’initie au cinéma au Fresnoy. Laura Henno fait résonner des existences et des voix plurielles qui cohabitent en marge de la société. En se concentrant sur des populations isolées, en situation migratoire ou de survie, elle explore les espaces de liberté et de résistance qui, résolument différents, s’y inventent dans l’adversité. La photographe et cinéaste privilégie une approche immersive au sein des communautés qu’elle suit sur plusieurs années. De l’archipel des Comores à la Californie, de Rome à l’île de la Réunion, elle développe une approche documentaire qui contourne les codes du genre, enrichie d’une dimension fictionnelle importante. Laura Henno compose une œuvre éminemment plastique, résolument politique où chaque projet éclaire d’un jour nouveau une réalité. Lauréate du prix Sam pour l’art contemporain 2019, Laura Henno a bénéficie d’une exposition au Palais de Tokyo en 2022. Le travail de Laura Henno a été montré dans de nombreuses expositions personnelles et collectives notamment à la galerie Nathalie Obadia (Paris, 2021-2024, Bruxelles, 2023), à l’Institut pour la photographie de Lille (2019), au Ryerson Image Center (Toronto, Canada, 2019), aux Rencontres d’Arles (2018), à la Biennale de Sharjah (2017), au Mac Val et au Musée National de l’Histoire de l’Immigration (2018), au BBB Centre d’Art (2017) ou encore au Finnish Museum of Photography (Helsinki, Finlande, 2011). Laura Henno est Lauréate du Prix du jury du Champs-Élysées Film Festival de 2019 avec le film Djo, également récompensé par le Prix Camira pour le court-métrage à Entrevues Belfort en 2018. Son film Koropa reçoit le Prix Égalité et Diversité au Festival International du court-métrage de Clermont-Ferrand en 2017, le Prix des bibliothécaires au Festival Premiers Plans à Angers en 2016 et le Grand Prix à Entrevues Belfort en 2016.
